Making the Connection

Country, blues and rock ’n’ roll...The Jimmie Rodgers Museum shows that the Father of Country Music influenced not only the country-music genre but also blues, jazz and rock ’n’ roll. Check out how Meridian, Mississippi, rocks the world!

Walking the Past

Take a tour of cemeteries, and enjoy a bit of heritage tourism honoring those who fell in the Civil War and those who struggled for Civil Rights, and paying homage to the King and Queen of the Gypsies as well as to Jimmie Rodgers.

Showtime for the Arts

Visit the historic grand opera house, now renovated into the MSU Riley Center, where you may even catch a performance. As you travel among the five art galleries, all in downtown, make sure to sample the nearby restaurants.

Antiques & Ghosts with a Twist

Ride the antique Dentzel Carousel, walk the antebellum home of Merrehope with the spirits, and marvel at mechanisms from the past via the Mississippi Industrial Heritage Museum and the Railroad Museum, housed in a 100-year-old depot! Then take home (or to your hotel) a bag of fresh roasted peanuts from the Causeyville General Store.
